Did you know the Wherehouse Art Hotel, a boutique hotel ran through Air BNB,  doubles as an art gallery?

Every month, a new artist creates an installation in their Gallery Room which guests may stay and a percentage of their booking goes towards a commission to the artist showing in the room.  The hotel is located above Krankie’s on 211 E 3rd St, Winston-Salem, in the heart of downtown.

Many people in the triad and surrounding areas, as well as Winston-Salem residents are unaware of the hotel gallery because of its almost hidden location.

One of the best times to come to experience the hotel is during one of their art openings  when all of the rooms will be open to the public.

March 11 from 6-9pm INDIA From an Intimate Distance: Photographs by Greg Vore will be featured.

Between 2007-2015 Vore travelled to India 7 times, spending 21 weeks photographing in 31 cities. This presentation of images made during that time represent a body of work being compiled for a photo book titled INDIA, From an Intimate Distance.

All images presented have been printed and framed by the artist.

With a diverse background that includes formal training in music, art and directing, Vore brings a multidisciplinary awareness to his photography. His strong sense of story and composition stem from years collaborating with set, costume and lighting designers on visual works in the theater. Vore synthesized his theater craft and photographic technique to develop a unique style for creating graphic, colorful and dynamic commercial still life and motion works. Regardless of a project’s challenges, Vore takes a creative approach focused on process rather than results, which allows a team to develop the best visual solution to articulate the specific message and character of a brand’s identity.

His pictures have been published in National Geographic, Communication Arts, Conde Nast Traveler, The New York Times, Vogue, Vanity Fair, The New Yorker, Bon Appetit, The Wall Street Journal, Brides, Martha Stewart Living, DuJour and in countless online outlets.

Greg attended Duke University, The New World School of the Arts and The North Carolina School of the Arts where he received his bachelor’s degree in directing.

Art Opening will begin at 6pm and end at 9pm serving light refreshments and snacks.

This event is free to the public.

Greg Vore’s art exhibit will be located in the Gallery Room located inside the Wherehouse Art Hotel.

The WAH is located at 211 East 3rd Street (on the floor above Krankies Cafe.)
